With Alice and Tony safely back in the UK Ed and I got back to work. Fortunately only a week later Chinese New Year commenced! We were given the whole week off, which was fantastic! On the Saturday we visited the Lotus Pond.

This is one of the temples situated around the side of the pond (more like a lake really). |
|
Ed and I up on of the pagodas. |
|
There was a turtle pond! They are trying to escape! |
We then went to the coast to watch the sunset.
That week it was our friends Hazel's last gig at the Brickyard Beer Garden. There was a big crowd and it was a superb gig!

WE MISS YOU HAZEL AND DOM!!!!
|
At the end of our week off we drove to Fo-Guan Shan to see one of the largest Buddhas in the world! It was a really lovely drive (I drove there, Ed drove on the way back!!) It was our first trip on the scooter outside the city. It was lovely to see some rural parts of Taiwan! And the Buddha was very impressive.

Near Love River, during Chinese New Year, a fantastic fire-work display happens twice a day. One at 7pm and one at 9pm. Fortunately, Dom and Hazel's flat has an amazing view of the spectacular:
